Color-coded calendars make a comeback

For the past month and a half I've been here, I wanted to get into a routine. Sure, the first week or two was nice while I was getting my apartment together (pictures coming soon enough, I promise!) and the time I had to make the constant trips to Wal-mart and Target was helpful, but I was getting bored. I had no puppy to play with (I miss you Choo-Choo!), no TV to keep me company (which was quickly remedied by Richard--thank you dear :) ), and as someone who gets great pleasure in assigning color-coded labels to events, my agenda was looking a little lonely.

Classes finally started last week which prompted additions to my now much-happier calendar:

Most mornings are filled with drop-in classes (free here at DU!), my favorite being a "Will Power and Grace" class on Thursdays where the instructor leads the class through a series of yogaerobic moves. Now, the first time I went to this class, my friend Patrick and I were the youngest by at least 20 years. At first, the class seemed like a joke--we started off with a series of foot exercises, stretching our toes and rolling our heals. By the end of it, I was a sweaty hot mess! My obliques were burning and my bottom hurt... the instructor was pretty awesome.

I take three classes this quarter and they only go for 10 weeks. (Yes, I have a six-week winter break--be jealous.) I've had two papers already and plenty of reading due for each class. After going over the syllabus for each course last week, I am very much overwhelmed. However, I'm lucky to have good friends that I can study with and who help me de-stress/celebrate the first week of classes:

While it's been a busy week-and-a-half, it's helpful and comforting to go through all of it with the wondering individuals in my cohort.
